Starting October 12, 2020, Cape Verde joins the list of countries open for tourism to travelers from any nationality and without quarantine. However, travelers will be expected to provide a negative PCR test result issued within 72 hours of arrival.
In addition, travelers who also wish to embark on an inter-island tour will have to fill the Health Surveillance Form and provide a negative PCR test result issued within 72 hours of departure.
Home to a dozen islands in the Atlantic, Cape Verde is a vacation destination that promises a lot in terms of tourism, especially diversity. These are some of the things you should be aware of before visiting Cape Verde!
· No Two Islands Are the Same
You will not find two islands in the archipelago that are remotely similar in landscape and appeal. While Fogo is home to a live volcano and its locals live in craters, Sal offers beautiful beaches with pristine white sands that draw locals to its shores. Whichever island you choose, you won’t be disappointed with what you see!
· It is a Fusion of Cultures
Due to its location and history, Cape Verde serves a unique blend of African and Portuguese Cultures. The largest island in Cape Verde is located just 500 kilometers from the coast of West Africa. Consequently, it has the most apparent African influences of all the islands.
However, its architecture reflects its European influences, such as the colonial buildings in Mindelo, and its cuisine is a tale of these two influences.
· Warm Temperature Always
It gets warm in Cape Verde, with temperatures running in the mid-twenties in January, making it the best place to soak up the winter sun.
Although the rainy seasons between July and October can restrict walking routes in some islands, the winter winds will barely give you any chill. They make for good surfing conditions, though.
